Our choice is corrugated terrace board
When choosing a Terrace decking board, not only the type of wood is important, but also the corresponding grooves.
Why corrugated?
Corrugation directs the flow of water from the terrace, the boards have greater adhesion, and therefore create better safety conditions compared to smooth boards. The grooves also prevent cracks from appearing on the surface.
- The upper grooves are usually thin and make the surface of the board adhesive and non-slip. This affects the comfort and safety of using the terrace.
- The lower grooves (pants) can be finely or roughly milled. It performs an important function that affects the durability of the terrace. It creates expansion spaces, thanks to which moisture can freely evaporate from the space between the board and the supporting structure of the terrace. Grouting the bottom is not necessary or as important with exotic woods, which have superior durability and weather resistance.
- Double-sided grooves combine the features of the above types of grooves.
Briefly about the types of wood for decking boards
Ribbed pine decking board
Pine, despite its prevalence, is a very elegant, warm and pleasant wood texture. Properly dried and stored wood does not release resin, and with proper care and protection it will last for many seasons. The big advantage of pine wood is its price.
Corrugated larch decking board
In the case of this wood, we distinguish between European and Siberian larch. Both types are similar in appearance, characterized by a warm color, delicate grain pattern and a small number of knots. The wood of Siberian larch is harder than European larch, which affects the durability of the decking board. Larch wood is slightly more expensive than pine and guarantees a longer service life of the terrace.
Exotic wood decking boards
The durability of exotic wood is several times greater than European wood, and the natural color and appearance are significantly different from European species. Our observations show that the most frequently selected species are: Bankirai or Keruing decking board.
