How to join a block house

How to join a block house

One of the popular and practical materials for interior and exterior decoration of a house is rightfully a block house. Aesthetically attractive, durable, lightweight, relatively inexpensive. Wooden block house, in addition, is an absolutely environmentally friendly material. Installation is not difficult, but some questions may arise when joining and abutting cladding elements. This article is about it.

How to join a house block along the length

Wooden block house is produced up to 6 meters long. If the length of the house wall is longer, then it is necessary to join the panels.

  • Before joining the house block along the length, calculate the joining points and install a wider beam to attach two joining panels to it.
  • The connection will be reliable if the two edges of the board at the joining points are tightly attached.
  • It is advisable to join adjacent panels at intervals.
  • If at one level the long board is on the right and the short one on the left, then at a level higher or lower it’s the other way around - there’s a short one on the right and a long one on the left.
  • The joints are staggered. This looks aesthetically pleasing and ensures secure fastening.

Joints look much more attractive if the boards are cut at an acute angle (30-45%). This can be done using a miter box. Fastening at the joints is usual: with self-tapping screws or clamps.

How to join at corners

Joining panels at corners requires patience and care. There are several ways to solve this problem.

  • The simplest is that the joints in the corners are covered with a corner. In this case, docking inaccuracies are not visible.
  • For internal corners, use a wide plinth, and for external corners, instead of corners, you can use two edged boards forming a corner.
  • You can join the house block using planed timber, which is installed in the corner. The cladding panels end at right angles and fit tightly to it on both sides. It is desirable that the protruding surfaces of the timber be in the same plane as the cladding. This method is used for both external and internal corners.

Another method involves joining panels, which are cut out according to an exact template and adjusted to each other. Fitting requires precision, as the joints remain visible. To do this, use a grinding machine. In this case, you can move the panels in the corners by half the width, and seal the cracks with putty or decorate with rope.

How to join a block house made of metal or vinyl

Before you begin installing a block house made of metal or vinyl, you must accurately calculate the number of components. Each manufacturer produces all the necessary connecting elements. A special feature is that they are installed before the panels are installed. The quality of finishing largely depends on the preparatory work, so you need to pay special attention to this.

The listed methods of joining a block house will ensure reliability and decorative cladding.
