How to properly sheathe a block house house

How to properly sheathe a block house house

Colorful, durable, reliable, attractive block house material is widely used for internal and external cladding. On the outside, vinyl, metal and wide wood panels are used. For interior work, as a rule, wooden, narrower ones. Installation is possible not only for specialists, but you should know the rules of how to sheathe a block with a house.

Cladding the walls of a block house from the outside

Before you start working, you need to be well prepared.

  • First of all, decide which house block will be used and how the work will be carried out.
  • Next you need to calculate the amount of material required (panels, fasteners, processing solutions). Prepare the tool. If you need to join panels, then determine the joint locations in advance.
  • Next you should prepare the walls of the house. If necessary, seal cracks and irregularities, clean from dirt and dust. If it is a wooden surface, then treat it with impregnations against mold and insects.
Now is the time to attach the sheathing.
  • It is made of wooden beams or galvanized profiles.
  • The beam is screwed vertically to the wall with self-tapping screws at a distance less than the width of the insulation that is selected, by 1-2 cm. This is done in order to achieve a tight fit of the insulation to the sheathing, and the thickness of the sheathing must correspond to the thickness of the insulation.
  • Then a windproof film is attached to the insulation, and a counter-lattice 3-4 cm thick is attached to it to create a gap for ventilation.
  • The metal sheathing is attached in the same way as wood sheathing directly to the wall or to metal brackets. In the first case, the insulation is placed deeper between the vertical profiles to create a gap. In the second, the brackets are installed first, then the insulation, wind protection and profiles. A ventilation gap should form between the insulated wall and the panels. Some people first insulate the wall using wooden sheathing, and then attach a metal windbreak profile to the beam.

  • The sheathing must be installed strictly vertically, since the reliability and aesthetics of the cladding largely depends on this. A wide beam is installed at the joints so that two joining panels are attached to it. A beam or profile is attached in advance at the corners.
  • The wooden house block is mounted with the tenon up and nailed or screwed with self-tapping screws. This was discussed in detail in our articles earlier.
  • When installing profiles made of vinyl or metal, a joining strip is installed at the joints. All connections are not tightly fastened, and gaps are left between the elements so that when the temperature changes, the vinyl and metal house block can move freely.

Wall cladding for block house indoors

For the interior wall cladding, the block house uses exclusively natural material. It's beautiful and environmentally friendly. Lightweight material has high sound insulation and retains heat.

  • Indoor block house wall cladding is usually carried out without insulation.
  • The panels are attached to the sheathing using self-tapping screws or clamps.
  • After installing the panels, they can, if necessary, be sanded, painted, and the cracks can be sealed with putty or decorative rope.
  • It must be remembered that before installation the house block must be in the room for at least 3 days.
  • During this time, it will gain the necessary moisture and will be less susceptible to deformation.

We hope that our recommendations will help when covering the walls with a block house.
