How to properly attach a block house

How to properly attach a block house

Block house is one of the most popular finishing materials today. It is made from vinyl, metal, wood and comes in a wide variety of sizes and colors. Its durability and aesthetics largely depend on how to properly attach the block house. Let's talk about this in more detail.

How the house block is attached

Regardless of what it is made of, fastening is carried out on the sheathing.

  • Its functions are to create an absolutely vertical plane that will hide the unevenness of the walls, ensure the reliability, durability and beauty of the cladding.
  • In addition, the lathing can serve as a support for the insulation of external walls, and is also necessary when arranging a ventilation gap on the inside.
  • It is made from wooden beams with a section of 4-6 by 4-6 cm or from profiled metal with a thickness of 0.45 -0.55 mm.
  • Attached to walls vertically in increments of 0.4 -0.6 m with dowels or on metal brackets.
  • Initially, sheathing posts are installed plumb on one and the other edge of the wall.
  • Then a fishing line is stretched between them, along which the entire sheathing is attached.

How to attach a wooden house block

Environmentally friendly, wooden block house is used for both external and internal work. It should be remembered that natural material is susceptible to the negative influence of living organisms: molds and insects. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the panels with special impregnations, especially in conditions of high humidity.

Fastening is possible in several ways: using special staples (clamps), self-tapping screws and nails. Depending on the size of the panels and the characteristics of the room, it is determined how to fasten a wooden house block.

  • Lightweight and narrow panels in rooms with slight differences in humidity and temperature can be fixed using clasps. One side of the bracket is inserted into the groove, and the other is fixed to the sheathing with screws or nails. The next panel fits into the groove with a tenon and closes the fastening. This type of installation is done from top to bottom.
  • The most common and reliable method of fastening is with screws. There are two ways to fasten a house block with self-tapping screws: they are screwed into the canvas itself or into a tenon. In any case, the cap must be recessed. It is closed with a decorative plug or overlapped by the groove of the next panel. The self-tapping screw is screwed directly into the panel at a right angle, and into the tenon - at 45 degrees. To avoid splitting the board, you need to pre-drill the holes with a drill of a smaller diameter. Installation is done from bottom to top.
  • Nails are used if the board thickness is no more than 20mm. They are driven into the tenon at 45 degrees. Finishing nails are sometimes used. They are driven directly into the canvas near the groove or tenon. Despite the fact that these nails have very small heads, it is noticeable how the house block is attached.
  • Rarely are special glue or liquid nails used for fastening. A significant disadvantage is the inability to replace the panel, if necessary.

Please note that before installation, the panels must be left in conditions of subsequent operation for at least 3 days to gain the required humidity.

How to attach a house block made of metal and vinyl

For installation, metal sheathing is often used. At the points where the panels join and at the corners, joining and corner elements are pre-installed. Then the panels themselves are installed. It must be remembered that a house block made of metal or vinyl cannot be screwed tightly. There must be free play for temperature changes in parameters.
